Fast Abdominal Fat Burning Vs Abdominal Crunches

How do I know how to get flat abs? Because I know a few things that others are not aware of. If you really want flat abs there are two very important things you must understand...

I don't care if you do hundreds of crunches a day, you must burn off the fat that is covering your abdominals... and no, aerobic exercise is not the fastest way to burn it off.

First of all the fastest way to burn off fat from any part of your body is through interval training and weight training. Once you start understanding that then you can focus on doing abdominal stabilizing workouts like pushups, which actually work your abs better than crunches.

I know you find that hard to believe but think about it for a minute:

Every time you hold yourself up to do a pushup, your abs contract to stabilize you. Then every time you go down and come up, you are simultaneously working all of the muscles in your arms and chest; therefore, you are burning more calories from working more muscles at the same time.

It is the same for exercises like the front squat and other multi-joint free weight exercises. When you use free weights while doing squats, your abs have to contract to stabilize your body during the movement. Squats are the best leg exercise because it works the biggest muscles in your body at the same time which burns more calories than other smaller muscle workouts. The fact that you are working your abs too is icing on the cake.

So why would you just do crunches when you can do more ab stabilizing workouts that contract your abs and work other muscles at the same time, which helps you burn fat faster?

The second thing you must understand is that you will not get great abs without changing your bad eating habits. That is a hard lesson to learn for people with fast metabolisms that think they can eat everything and burn it off.

Don't think that just because someone is "skinny" they are toned. A flat stomach is not the same as a toned defined stomach or tight abs. Skinny doesn't equal toned, but toned does equal sexy, and you can't get a sexy stomach from daily intake of junk food.

To get tight defined abs you have to get rid of the stubborn fat surrounding your abdominal muscles. The stubborn fat is the fat that won't leave unless you eat right so that you can burn it off.

So, to summarize my point, you must do the following to get a toned, defined set of abs:

1. Stop doing crunches and start doing ab stabilizing workouts and interval training
2. Change your eating habits to a healthy nutritious way of eating
